Netflix Hidden Gems

By: Alexa Hanan

As the days become darker and colder with the changing season, you will all be spending more time inside with the urge to watch something cozy. Netflix has an array of cozy shows, but two that I have been enjoying are Penelope and The Great British Baking Show.

Penelope was released in 2006 and stars Christina Ricci, James McAvoy, and Reese Witherspoon. This whimsical film follows Penelope, a girl who has been cursed with a pig nose due to a misstep taken by her great-great-grandfather generations back, as she tries to find her identity despite the curse. This film will leave you with a warm feeling by immersing you into pleasing colors, lovely settings, and an enchanting story with loveable characters. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed.

There will always be a day that you just need to sit back, relax, and watch something that requires no thought whatsoever. If you are experiencing one of those days, turn on The Great British Baking Show. Join Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood for 3 seasons of watching competitors frantically create amazing baking creations. This show will allow you to sink into the allures of the English countryside and be hypnotized by the stirring and fluffing of countless cakes, breads, and pastries. The next time you are craving a show that will put you to ease and make you hungry, turn on The Great British Baking Show.
