WORLD LANGUAGES DEPARTMENT – SPANISH 1 & 3

Covenant Christian High School (Indianapolis) seeks a committed Christian educator to fill a full-time, maternity leave Spanish 1 & 3 position from January 4 to March 19 of 2021.  

Candidates should be passionate about the Spanish language, literature, and various Latin American and Spanish cultures and clearly show a desire to share that love with a diverse group of teenage students.  A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Spanish with an education track is preferred. Capacity to conduct courses entirely in Spanish is essential. Ideal applicants will be equipped to teach using both online and traditional methods and have global perspectives developed through study abroad.   

Candidates should be highly organized and capable of implementing program ideas in creative and effective ways.  Candidates should be able to work closely with other staff, especially the current Spanish 1 & 3 teacher, Academic Dean, and Academic Advisors. The successful candidate will be able to engage, nurture, and help students develop critical reading and analytical writing skills that move students successfully toward end of year assessments. Additionally, candidates should be able to build a quick rapport with parents and students.

MATH DEPARTMENT – TRIGONOMETRY, PRECALCULUS, AND (AP) STATISTICS

Covenant Christian High School (Indianapolis) seeks a committed Christian educator to fill a full-time position to teach advanced math courses (Trigonometry, Precalculus, and (AP) Statistics) beginning in the fall of the 2021-2022 school year.

Candidates will be highly relational, organized, capable of teaching according to our well-developed Math Program and within the framework of a biblical Christian worldview.

Candidates should be passionate about mathematics and clearly show a desire to share that love with a diverse group of teenage students. Candidates should be able to encourage struggling learners while at the same time holding them accountable for doing the work necessary to succeed. Experience with technology used in the math classroom (Smartboard and graphing calculators), and online math resources and learning management systems is ideal.

Candidates shall be highly organized and capable of implementing program ideas in creative and effective ways.  Candidates should be able to work closely with other staff, especially our faculty, Academic Dean, World Languages Department, and our Academic Advisors. Additionally, as a Christian educator, it is imperative to be able to work closely with parents, especially those who have a student in high school for the first time. 

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mathematics is required, and an education track is preferred. Candidates equipped to also teach science courses are ideal. Must hold a valid Indiana teacher license and either hold or be prepared to pursue an ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) teaching certificate.  Ideal applicants will be able to teach using both online and traditional methods and be dedicated to continual growth in both knowledge of mathematics and in the practice of teaching mathematics.

Candidates should apply by February 26 , 2021 and be available to begin some in-class training in the latter part of the Spring.
